Frequently Asked Questions

  • We operate on a pay-per-lesson system. All payments are managed securely through our platform, TutorCruncher.

Once your child is matched with a tutor, we’ll create a profile for you. From there, you’ll be able to view lesson schedules, manage bookings, and make payments easily online.

To ensure our tutors are paid promptly, we kindly ask that all parents or guardians add a payment method to their account before the first lesson.

    Cancellations

    • More than 24 hours’ notice: No charge — the lesson will be cancelled and no payment will be taken.

    • Less than 24 hours’ notice: A cancellation fee equal to the full lesson cost will apply.

Thank you for supporting our tutors’ time and commitment.

  • Our Ensembles and Orchestra payments are made in advance of the term, at a fixed rate.

This is a termly commitment and we are unable to refund any sessions not attended by your child. If we need to cancel a session due to teacher illness, you will receive a credit for the missed session.

  • We are not able to accept childcare vouchers as payment.

  • Please let us know of any external or internal clashes with your child’s timetable at the beginning of the term. We work closely with your school to anticipate school activities and events, but with many students to account for, we may miss a clash.

Depending on teacher and room availability, we may be able to reschedule the lesson to another time during the term. If not, we will cancel your lesson for that week and payment will not be taken, unless given less than 24 hours notice.

If your child is unable to attend their lesson due to illness, an external appointment or holiday, you must allow us at least 24 hours notice, or payment will be taken.

If you notify us less than 24 hours before your lesson, you will be charged.

  • We understand that music may not be for everyone, and that your child may choose to stop learning with us. We ask that you give us at least 4 weeks notice of termination of our services.

We will continue to teach your child during this notice period until your chosen termination date.

If you child chooses not to attend these final 4 lessons, our teacher will be required to mark these as ‘no shows’ and will charge for these lessons.

Ensemble and Orchestra participation is termly, so we are unable to terminate their involvement until the end of the term.

  • Every term we are partnering with more schools across the UK, so please get in touch with us if you would like us to contact your school to let them know of our services.

  • For lessons during school hours, we set these on a rotational basis, which means your child isn’t missing the same class two weeks in a row.

Depending on your school’s capacity, we may offer after school hours tuition. Find your School to see if we offer this option.

  • If your child doesn’t seem to have a preference of which instrument to start their learning, depending on your child’s age, we do have some recommendations on what would be best for their development.

    For Reception: singing, violin
For Year 1: piano, viola, flute, recorder
For Year 2: drums, clarinet, trumpet

Learning instruments such as cello, double bass, other woodwind and brass instruments will depend on your child’s size as these instruments increase incrementally in size.

  • We understand that buying an instrument outright can be incredibly expensive, particularly if your child is trying a new instrument. So, we offer instrument hire through our own stock, or external hires from our trusted retailers.

Please get in touch and we will help you find the right instrument to hire.

We do not offer piano or keyboard hires, but will advise on the appropriate instrument to buy in line with your budget.

  • All of our teachers have a degree from some of the best conservatoires and music education colleges in the UK and internationally.

All of our teachers hold a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate.

For all lessons with our SEND tutors, we work hard to ensure they are trained, prepared and supported by our SEND specialist who will monitored the progress and assessment of our students, working closely with schools, parents and teachers.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead ensures that all of our teachers are properly vetted and safeguarding policies are in place and understood by all of our teachers.

If you have a concern, no matter how small, please get in touch with our Head Teacher.
