Who we are
SEND for a Music Tutor was founded in 2024 by opera singer and educator Shakira Tsindos. The idea was born while Shakira was working as a peripatetic music teacher in a London school, where she saw first-hand the barriers that students with SEND often face in accessing meaningful, inclusive music education.
Shakira is also the Managing Director of Workbox Music, a successful London-based teaching agency with over 50 exceptional tutors and more than 8,000 lessons delivered to date. With a proven track record in building high-quality teaching services — and a trusted network of experienced educators — Shakira created SEND for a Music Tutor to provide tailored, in-school music support for students who need it most.
Our Mission
To provide high-quality, in-school tutoring that supports the academic, emotional, and creative development of every student — with a special focus on children with SEND. Through close collaboration with families, schools, and tutors, we design personalised learning plans that empower each child to grow with confidence.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every child — regardless of learning style or ability — has access to expert, compassionate support that meets them where they are. By integrating tutoring into the school day and working as a team around the child, we aim to transform the way music education supports individual needs.

Having spent her whole life in Sydney, Australia - Rebecca decided to relocate to London in 2020. Based in Kennington, she is a mezzo-soprano and teaches singing and piano.
She has studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and will be commencing her studies on the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music later this year. Rebecca started teaching for Workbox Music in 2021 and took on the position of Studio Coordinator in 2022. When she isn’t singing or teaching, Rebecca can be found rock climbing, admiring other people's dogs and cultivating her rather large indoor plant collection.
